Stubach Valley – the gate into the Hohe Tauern National Park

The Stubach Valley is among the most beautiful and diverse valleys of the Hohe Tauern region. As early as 1916 Salzburg’s vice governor Dr August Prinzinger stated that although he had seen mightier mountains and glaciers he had never seen a more beautiful valley than this. That is why he thought a national park should be founded here. Then as well as today countless visitors have been fascinated by this valley. In his book “Pinzgauer Spaziergang” (Pinzgau walk) the famous artist Rudolf Ferbus from Zell am See writes about an almost “violent beauty of the region surrounding the Weißsee lake”
